Duck Dodgers Wiki

Hooray for Hollywood Planet is the eleventh episode of season 1 of Duck Dodgers.

Duck Dodgers is sick of the junk on TV. He feels "the public wants something with a little artistic vision", so he desires to get his autobiographical script, Duck Dodgers, made into a movie. He gets a call from executive producer and director Harry Vermin, who is interested in turning Dodgers' script into a movie. The two head to Hollywood Planet and meet Vermin. After the two discuss their plans and leave, Vermin calls up Commander X-2, who promises to finance his next ten pictures if he will get rid of Dodgers.

Vermin adds a young, female space cadet to the script, played by Nina, an assassin who even Daffy is impressed by. Fed up, Daffy literally throws her out the room. In the next scene, Daffy has to kiss Nina. He does, but the scene nauseates the Space Cadet and even Vermin. In the third scene, Nina tries to kill Dodgers with electric nunchuks, but Dodgers successfully defends himself.

The second scene takes place on the desert of Mars. Vermin tries to get Dodgers to step in some quicksand, but he is the one who gets sucked in instead.

In the third scene, Dodgers has to save the Space Cadet from a monster.

In the fourth and final scene, Dodgers has to defuse a bomb within 60 seconds. He struggles to defuse the bomb, but at the last moment, he disconnects the blue wire, much to Vermin's surprise. He pulls the red wire, making the bomb explode and destroying his studio. Dazed, he surrenders and confesses that he and Commander X-2 planned to do Dodgers in. The Space Cadet offers to do something with the footage they shot.

On the night of the premiere, Dodgers, the Cadet, and Vermin arrive. Dodgers is eager to see the movie--until he sees that it stars Bugs Bunny.

  • The cartoon closes on a facsimile of the "bee-woop!" sound effect that closed some of Bob Clampett's cartoons. It is noticeably slower.
